Is there tax?

It is possible based on your state or local municipality that tax may be added to your monthly monitoring rate and installation charge.  Tax rate is based on your state or local tax rate.

Why is my first monthly monitoring rate different from what was quoted?

Remember with ADT you are always paying for service one month in advance.
Your first monthly monitoring rate (charged within 48 hrs. of install) is a prorated charge for the remainder of your installation month and all of the following month in advance.

How do I arm/disarm my system?

Arming
From Key Fob

      • Stay Mode (when you will be in the home).
        • Press and hold button that looks like a person in a box for 3 seconds until red light flashes on Fob.
      • Away Mode.
        • Press and hold button that looks like a person walking out a door for 3 seconds until red light flashes on Fob.

From Keypad

      • Stay Mode (when you will be in the home).
        • Press and hold button Stay button for 3 seconds until keypad displays exit delay in progress. If the system does not immediately begin to show exit delay you will need to enter in your access code to begin the arming process.
      • Away Mode.
        • Press and hold away button for 3 seconds until keypad displays exit delay in progress. If the system does not immediately begin to show exit delay you will need to enter in your access code to begin the arming process.

Disarming
From Key Fob

      • Press and hold the open lock button for 3 seconds until red light flashes on Fob.

From Keypad

      • Enter your access code.

I see a message that says “secure system before arming” what does this mean?

In many cases this message simply means you have a protected door or window open.  Closing the door or window will remove the message.
In some instances this could be a message indicating a problem with your system.

    • Open and close the door or window in question
    • If the problem continues contact SecurityAlarmNow for additional assistance

My motion detector does not work (no flashing light).

If your system is wireless you will not see a flashing light on your motion detector.  As the device operates on batteries this is to conserve and extend battery life.

I want to test my motion detector

To test your motion detector call ADT (1-800-238-2727) and have your system placed in test mode.

  • Arm your system in away mode.

From Key Fob

      • Press and hold button that looks like a person walking out a door for 3 seconds until red light flashes on Fob.

From Keypad

      • Press and hold away button for 3 seconds until keypad displays exit delay in progress.
      • Open and close a primary entry door (this allows the system to think you left the home)
  • After system is fully armed (green check mark off and red lock lit on keypad) you must wait 3 minutes for motion to calibrate itself.
  • Once 3 minutes has passed create motion in front of the detector. 
    • There will be a 6 second delay from the time motion is detected to the point the alarm sounds. This is necessary to prevent false alarms.
  • Disarm system by entering your 4 digit code into the keypad or press the open lock on your key fob.
  • Call ADT (1-800-238-2727) and have your system removed from test mode.

How long do I have to send in my rebate form?

Rebate forms must be postmarked within 30 days of the system install date.

How do I change the people listed on my call list?

Just call the ADT Customer Monitoring Center at 1-888-ADT-RESI (1-888-238-7374) or visit www.myadt.com with your changes. Have your personal identification code ready in order to make your changes. Make sure to tell everyone on your call list what to do in case they receive a call from ADT
